Skill Templates

Here are some of the most common- and some uncommon- skill templates and packages. Feel free to add more templates as you create them....

 Remember that any ranks after rank 4 will be more expensive, and points added to skills through cumulative packages (high school, college and masters, for example) must be bought at ISL costs(5 costs 6 levels, 6 costs 8, etc.). In other words, if the same skill is given in three packages the character adds the new points on to the skill he has already achieved-but not as RANKs! They are ISL points. So if you get up to a 6 in a skill- that will buy you RANK 5, all as per Table 2.

Cultural Packages

These are background/cultural packages. They are at half cost. These are typical background packages: {Remember that people get +30 to their native language and culture, +15 to R/W Native language, and +15 to their Native Streetwise Their native cultural background package is free!}

 U.S. New England middle-class background package (COST: 6)

 L: English- 3; R/W English- 1; U.S. Social Lore- 2; U.S. Culture- 3; Streetwise: New England- 1; Driving-2

 Another sample background package for a Steppes Warrior Nomad culture might be:

 Brigade background package (COST: 6)

 L: Dau-Shoan- 3; L: High Dau-Shoan- 1; Brigade Social Lore- 2; Brigade Culture- 1; Military Culture- 2; Wilderness Survival:Steppes- 3

 This does not include any directed military training and would apply to women and men.

Educational Packages

Schooling packages are at half cost. Costs in parenthesis have already been adjusted.

 U.S. High School Package (COST: 5 )

Mathematics-2; US History-1; R/W Native Language-1(sure...); General Science-2(general skill); Literature-1; Any sport or group skill (that is school based)-2

 U.S. College Package (COST: 8)

 R/W English-1; Mathematics-1; Mental Endurance-2; L: English- 1; INF Perception-1; Library Research-1; Literature-1; History-1; Second Language-1; R/W Second Language-1; General Science-1; Philosophy or Religion-1; Second Culture Lore-1; Psychology-1; An art of some kind-1.

 NOTE that this does not include your major. It is recommended that you have at least a RNK 3 in your major area of study, and maybe a support skill or two at RANK 1. Also, the High School package is usually a prerequisite of the college package.

 U.S. Master's Package(COST: 3)

 INF Perception-1; Library or Lab Research-2; R/W Language-2; Library Research-1

 NOTE that this does not include your major. You should have at least a RNK 5 in your major area of study, and several support skills at RANK 3. Also, the College package is usually a prerequisite of the Master's package.

 U.S. Doctorate Package(COST: 4)

 INF Perception-1; Library or Lab research-2; R/W Language-1; Administration-1; Library Research-1; Teaching-1; ADV: REPUTATION-1

 NOTE that this does not include your major. You should have at least a RNK 7 in your major area of study, and several support skills at RANK 4. Note that the college package is a prerequisite for this package, and the Master's package is usually a prerequisite as well.

Professional Packages

Professional packages are at 3/4 cost. Costs in parenthesis are already adjusted. Here are the modern soldier packages. . . .

Military Package(soldier) (cost: 18 {22 if not still in Army})

 Military Ops-4; Rifle-4; Military HTH-1; Military Culture-2; Endurance-3; Sleep-2; Portaging-1; Camouflage-1; G:Wilderness Survival-2; Awareness-1; Cartography-1; Navigation-1; Comm. Ops-2; Long range perception-1; Combat Medicine-2; Small Unit Tactics-1; Throw-2, DISAD: Duty to Leaders--6.

 NOTE: It is recommended that the soldier take the high school package. Also, on top of this package the soldier should take at least two levels of skills in the Area of Specialty (small arms, communications, nursing, etc.)

 Military Package(officer) (cost:18 {22 if already bought soldier})

 NOTE: unless officer came from ranks will not have soldier skills. It is recommended that an officer take the college package as well.

 Military Package (Special Forces- combat) (cost: 36)

 NOTE: The soldier package is a prerequisite of this package. Some people take the officer package as well. Also, on top of this package the soldier should take at least six levels of skills in the Area of Specialty (small arms, communications, nursing, etc.)

Note that this does not include specific spell or sorcery skills. It provides only the basics that a classically trained Dorian Wizard would have.
